Midday Perspective Break!

Dear Friend,
I’ve been using journalling as tool since I was a young girl. I started out writing poetry, letters and drawing to God. It was a helpful way for me to process the events of my life and to feel secure in a very insecure world.

The habit of journaling has stayed with me and has served as an extension of my mindfulness practice ever since.

Perhaps the most helpful benefit of keeping my mindfulness journal is its ability to subtly influence my brain. Studies have found literal differences in the brains of those who meditate and those who don’t. Because writing and other artistic activities can put you in a meditative or “theta” brainwave state, journaling can help rewire your brain.

This is true for me! And for my clients!

I often use journaling to assist my shift in perspective with sticky beliefs that no longer serve me. Today, In my morning meditation I began my “internal deep dive” into the subtle waves of stuff stirring inside, looking for movement. As the day went on the energy started to unravel within me and I was ready to write into clarity - rewiring my brain with a broader perspective this afternoon!!

I love my journaling practice and recommend it for everyone’s - mindfulness tool belt!
